Born in Paddington NSW - 1937 -  One of five children..

Raised and educated in Sydney

Apprenticeship with NSW Government Railways  - 1953-58.

Army National Service Training at Ingleburn NSW - 1957.            

Army CMF 1957-59.

Married Merrilyn (nee Holden) - 1965.

Three children:   Scott (1967), Kelly (1970) and Linda (1975).

Royal Australian Navy: 

Joined the Royal Australian Navy - 1959. 

Ships served:
Aircraft carrier HMAS Melbourne
Minesweepers HMAS Curlew & HMAS Hawk Submarines HMS Finwhale,  HMAS Otway & HMAS Oxley.

Paid off from the RAN as a Warrant Officer after 20 years service - 1979,  moving to wife's home town of Townsville, and in 1990  to Cairns.
